The relationship between Miyu and Larva is a weird and yet beautiful part of the story.

As Miyu says, Larva is her "soul servant and friend". Ever since she's been given the task of returning stray Shinma to the Dark, Larva is always with Miyu helping her by fighting with his sharp hands.

Miyu's task may take centuries. And she may not be able to resist if it weren't for Larva. He's the one whom Miyu shares her secrets with as well as her sorrow. She thinks about Larva as her servant, her only friend and possibly her lover.

The beginning of their story is quite different in the OAVs than the TV series.

The story begins by the time when Miyu realizes she's got vampire blood in her. She was listening to the sound of the ocean, when she heard a voice saying:

There's nothing to be afraid of.

Miyu turned around, and she saw a silhouette coming from afar the ocean. Then she heard the voice again:

Nothing to be afraid of...
I just want to borrow a little bit of your life.

It was Larva, a Western Shinma sent to kill Miyu before becoming the Guardian. He approached Miyu and while preparing to kill her, she suddenly felt the urge to drink blood, and Larva was her victim.

As punishment for not defeating Miyu, Larva's voice and face were sealed away...

...and he became my servant... my only servant...
He's the only one... who helps me and who understands my feelings... he's... important to me. (Miyu)

No one can understand Miyu but Larva. There's a strong relationship between the two that keeps them together.

Not even Shinma Lemures, one of Larva's very good friends, couldn't brake this strong relationship. Lemures came to Japan to free Larva from Miyu's control. After he has been defeated ironically by Larva himself, Lemures was surprised to hear that he didn't want to leave Miyu.

Lemures, "Larva, you've been charmed by this girl!"
Larva, "Lemures, don't you understand?"
Lemures, "Understand what?"
Larva, "This girl's... sorrow..."

There's no hint to know if Larva's feeling for Miyu is love or just sorrow, but it is obvious that he cares about her and wants to protect her, no matter what.

In The TV series, Miyu meets Larva after she has already become the Guardian.

Larva arives to Japan by crossing the ocean, where he meets Miyu, right on the shore. For being the Guardian, Miyu attacked Larva so she can send him to the Dark. While fighting, Miyu has been hurt by Larva's sharp hands, but she still had the power to bite him and kill him.

However, Larva was reborn, for Miyu's immortal blood mixed with his own. From that moment, they've been tied together by each other's blood. It was then when Larva found out about Miyu's cursed fate. Knowing her sadness, Larva freely chose to always be at Miyu's side. He also received the same power as the Guardian's.

Miyu asked Larva to look after her life. If she should ever want to run away from her destiny, then Larva would end her life.

Miyu remembers all these things when Garline, one of Larva's very close friends, came to Japan to bring him back home. In the end, Garline dies being killed by Larva himself, just like Lemures from the OAVs.<.p>

It's the blood that unites Miyu and Larva together that makes this relationship so special and unbreakable.
